A small B&B, kept properly.
Edinburgh Gallery is a grand Edwardian/Federation home built in 1908 — high ceilings, sweeping staircases, original woodwork and an unhurried sense of old-world charm. I took over the business in April 2014 and have spent the years since making sure the comforts match the character: new doonas and pillows, professionally laundered linens, electric blankets in every room, and stacks of spare blankets in the cupboard for the cold nights.
Each of the nine rooms is individually decorated in what I’ve come to call “hip-heritage” style — retro furnishings, art and curios on the walls, a television, bar fridge and tea/coffee in every room. Five rooms have their own ensuites; four share well-kept bathroom facilities. Continental breakfast is in the breakfast room and adjoining café from early until late, with cereals, breads (including gluten free), and fresh jams, honey and peanut butter from the local farmers market.
Whoever you are, whoever you’re travelling with — couples, singles, families, gay-friendly, the lot — you’re welcome here.
